Dear Inner Child

Dear Inner Child,

You heard, saw, and felt so profoundly the feelings of others. You experienced so much emotional pain and hurt. You lived in a home with parents who had experienced trauma and didn’t know to put feelings into words. You walked on eggshells and were unsure of how to just be you.

You lacked life skills. You had pure innocence into your mid-teens and didn’t know nor understand what it meant to live in the world.

You were afraid of men and didn’t know why. You didn’t know how to communicate your wants and needs – you were never taught and had to figure it out on your own. You carried the believes and hurts of others within you and tried to heal them.

You were hurt, criticized, and disillusioned about what love was or could be.

Many in your life tried to break your spirit and put out the sunshine that was you.

You survived… I am here to love you and help you feel safe.

Your beautiful soul continues to shine for yourself and others.

Your accomplishments have far exceeded the expectations of those who put you down and did not encourage you to succeed. You overcame all obstacles and learned to be a survivor. You found your heart, your soul, and your purpose.

We are one now, we hold fast to each other, and together we can walk a path that is safe, loving and filled with possibilities.

You - my inner child - are acknowledged, supported, encouraged, and loved every day. Loved for who you are and for who you are becoming. You are safe within me/us. Only goodness can come from the heart and soul.

With loving-kindness, I set you free to become what your soul has prepared for you.

Live in the light, be the light for yourself and others. Within that brilliant light, you find peace, contentment and the beauty of living on this earth.
