MindBody Connection - Cancer

In honour of my husband who has given me authorization to share our journey through diagnosis & treatment of prostate cancer.

Cancer, it’s a word that puts so much fear into our mind, body and soul.

Why is that?

Are we afraid of dying? Are we afraid of the effects that cancer may have on our bodies. And that’s before we even consider the treatment - radiation, chemotherapy and their own side effects.

The journey is an emotional roller coaster.

Fear. Anger, Bargaining. Wondering-is there a cure. Will treatment work?

I’ll never forget my doctor saying, “If you’re going to get cancer, prostate cancer is the best cancer to get. Is any cancer really “good” to get?

This experience has been teaching me the art of letting go-of what I cannot change, of what I cannot control. My focus is to love & support Herve on his path. We all need love and compassion, and the reminder that it’s okay to be where we are. It’s a gift when others support our journey without judgement or expectation. When I lean into that truth, remember to do that, I feel peace both mind and body.

Louise Hay’s book, Heal Your Body, she writes:

Cancer:

Probable cause:

Deep hurt. Long standing resentment. Deep secret or grief eating away at the self. Carry hatreds. What’s the use.

New Thought Pattern:

I lovingly forgive and release all the past. I choose to fill my world with joy. I love and approve of myself.

These are beautiful words, words along aren’t enough. It’s the actions and the conviction of belief that can bring healing and bring joy into your life. Releasing is an of forgiving-both of yourself and others.

I share my story in my blog of Forgiveness

Gentle Reflection:

  • How can you offer yourself more compassion today?

  • Who in your life might need your presence and love more than your solutions or advice?

  • What would it feel like to release the weight of what you cannot control?
