The Beauty of Ageing

Hello, 65! We made it!

I was given 24 hours to live. I’m here, and I lived many more 24 hours.

I so desperately wanted to heal my body. What I discovered is that I must truly love myself first. Speak my truth and live my souls’ purpose. To acknowledge and understand my own emotions. To know that every day is not filled with happiness and be okay with that.

I was given the amazing opportunity to continue healing my body and mind and truly connect to my soul. I overcame obstacles that opened my mind to curiosity and learning. I have gained wisdom from my many years of experience.

I was also allowed to be married for 32 years. Where I learned to understand how to love someone unconditionally. To let things go and have an appreciation for the small things in life. To know and remember to be okay with days where I may struggle to find happiness or feel positive. To be satisfied with what is.

And just be okay with the outcome.

What I discovered:

Allow the younger general to express their beauty. It is time for them to truly shine. To not cover their light by wanting to be or look like them. We are meant to age in all ways! Our beauty is expressed through our wisdom from the many years we have been allowed to live and grow old.

There’s enough competition for young women; they do not need us to also be their competition. Our attempt to look young takes away from who we are truly meant to be. You are intended to embrace the person you have become, grey hair, saggy skin, wrinkles and all!

To love the person you have become.

To remember your experiences and hold them as opportunities.

To share the many years of learning while you remain on this earth.

To have gratitude for the past.

To appreciate the now.

To hold space for those who are coming behind you.

To grow from here and experience more tomorrows.

To become who you are truly meant to be.

For ageing is not given to all.
